Founder Story

Jellybean Productions was founded by Cheryl Newland, a community leader and creative program developer who is passionate about bringing families together through arts, literacy and shared experiences.

The organization began with Cheryl's vision to create joyful, welcoming spaces where children and caregivers could learn, create, and connect. Inspired by the idea of bringing stories to life and using art to bring colorful possibilities, Jellybean was designed to offer hands-on-activities that spark imagination, encourage creativity, and strengthen family engagement.

Cheryl launched Jellybean Productions by partnering with local libraries to provide interactive programs that combine storytelling, visual arts and creative expression.  Over the past several years, she has expanded the organization's reach through ongoing collaborations with Dekalb County Public Library and community partners, including local businesses such as Chick-Fil-A.

Through her leadership, Jellybean Productions has served hundreds of children and families each year, creating free and accessible opportunities for creative learning in community spaces.  Her work focuses on building strong connections between families and the resources that support children's growth and development.

Cheryl continues to grow Jellybean Productions with a vision to expand to school partnerships, increase neighborhood arts programming, and develop a children's theatre initiative that will give young people a platform to express their voices and talents.

At the heart of her work is a simple belief; when families have access to creativity, connection and positive shared experiences, children thrive and communities grow stronger.
